The First Three Sins, The Summary
The Fourth Sin, Overall Discussion
When the listener hits the play button, they are immediately enveloped by the opening track, Bone Process. This eight-minute introduction unfolds with a slow, heavy atmosphere, blending aggressive instrumentals with powerful vocals. It serves as a fierce invitation, pulling the listener into the intense journey that lies ahead—a stark warning for those unprepared.
As the listener embarks on their auditory expedition, they are greeted by the second track, Crytagathon, along with three additional pieces that collectively unleash thirty minutes of unfiltered ferocity across five songs. This raw intensity is intricately woven with immersive storytelling, crafting a narrative that resonates deeply with both the ears and the soul. Charred Tongue unfolds the saga of a long-forgotten slave species, driven by a thirst for vengeance through the realms of cosmic warfare and esoteric knowledge, presenting a daring tale that complements its punishing sound.
The sonic assault delivered by this music is not for the faint of heart; it demands a listener who can withstand its relentless force. The entire musical landscape is meticulously designed to embody the essence of technical death metal, while the sheer brutality and aggression of brutal death metal, combined with atmospheric death metal elements, creates an overwhelming experience. For me, I have this feel there is a hint of atmospheric and depressive black metal, along with the weight of doom metal embedded in their music. Furthering and enhancing the dark and unsettling ambiance, enveloping the audience in a chilling embrace.
Each note reverberates with a sense of urgency and despair, drawing the listener into a world where chaos reigns supreme. The fusion of these genres not only amplifies the emotional weight of the narrative but also invites a visceral reaction, making it an unforgettable journey through sound.
Inside the realm of Necronos, music emerges as a haunting instrumental tapestry, weaving a soundscape that is both bleak and unsettling, reminiscent of a thick fog blanketing the ocean’s surface. The listener is drawn into a perfectly balanced tempo, neither too hurried nor too languid, allowing the music to flow seamlessly while the underlying aggression and atmosphere anchor the pace, resulting in a rich fruit of art creation. This instrumental and devilmanship is executed with a fierce artistry, showcasing guitar segments filled with chaotic, intense riffs that propel the band’s aggressive essence.
Necronos’ fruit of art devilmanship provides the listener soul, with dark aggressive passages, intricate solos and relentless rhythms define their signature style, while the bass lines intertwine with the rapid-fire guitar work, enriching the overall sonic experience. The drum work delivers rapid, aggressive beats and complex rhythms that are integral to the band’s intense and chaotic sound. Meanwhile, the commanding vocals provide a powerful and fierce performance that aligns perfectly with the music’s intensity, his raw vocal style amplifying the ferocity that permeates their sound.
Necronos’ Charred Tongue presents a formidable challenge for its listeners, demanding to be experienced at just the right moment. When the music hits, it has the power to overwhelm, enveloping you in its intensity. The production quality is nothing short of impressive, creating a sonic landscape that is meticulously crafted. Each element—be it the atmospheric layers, the intricate notes, the haunting vocals, or the driving beat—can be distinctly perceived, even as they merge into a rich tapestry of sound.
Fans of technical and atmospheric death metal will find plenty to love here.
As the final notes fade, the listener is left with a haunting echo of the story, a reminder of the power of music to convey profound themes of struggle and retribution. We want to give a shoutout to Chaos Records for letting us review Necronos and their album, Charred Tongue.
