Angel Rising is a Progressive/Technical Death Metal band from France. September 17th, 2024, Angel Rising released their latest single, Everything That We Build, taken from their upcoming album.
Angel Rising, Everything That We Build Review: This review will evaluate every aspect of the album, from its intricate musical composition to its production.
The First Three Sins, The Summary
The First Sin, The Strings/Keys: Features electrifying strings of hell, of slight-aggression passages, infused with (upbeat) melodic and rhythmic sections. The Second Sin, The Vocals: The vocals are omitted, to create an instrumental voyeur. The Third Sin, The Percussions: The drums provide the piece with flowing-up-lifting beats, fills, and dynamic strikes.
The Fourth Sin, Overall Discussion
As soon the listener presses that play button, the listener is welcomed to the vast complex world of Angel Rising and his new single Everything That We Build, taken from his upcoming album, yet to be named.
With Angel Rising, there is also a labyrinth of paths within his work. Before starting with the review, let’s read a poem from his last single, The Voyager.
The Voyager (full poem)
“Then tirelessly, he continues his path
And with him the flames that devour the past
At times he halts his journey for millions of years
To contemplate what will no longer be
Then tirelessly, he continues his path
And with him the flames that devour the past
The present evaporates before placid eyes
Frantic is the dance of fire and ice
Then tirelessly, he continues his path
And with him the flames that devour the past
Sometimes he loses himself through infinity
As Colors and sounds blend in seamlessly
Then tirelessly, he continues his path
And with him the flames that devour the past”
As the listener progresses through the song, the listener’s ears will find that, in Everything That We Build, the composition is different to what we are used to, in Angel Rising‘s previously recorded songs/work. The listener is usually provided with full-on brutal, complex, technical, progressive and at other times melodic/groove/thrash qualities within Angel Rising’s musical spectrum.
But with Everything That We Build, the song provide and delivers the listener’s ears
with this complex, but beautiful instrumental composition.
There is something epic about the piece. The devilmanship draws you into the music, with Angel Rising’s guitar composition, which serves up (various tempos and build-ups) slight-aggression passages, infused with (up-beat) melodic and rhythmic sections, that dance together with the drums. The drums provide the piece with flowing-up-lifting beats, fills and dynamic strikes.
Simultaneously, there exist some attractive avant-garde/technical fretboard techniques, coupled with solid bass riffs, which provide a solid foundation for the musical score/composition.
The production work on this piece is truly impressive, delivering a crystal clear sound that allows the listener to perceive every individual droplet of the composition. It’s as if you’re holding a shell to your ear, and the music transports you to a place where you can hear the sea clashing in your ear canal. The meticulous attention to detail in the instruments and music creates an immersive experience that truly captivates the senses.
Angel Rising’s After Life release was a fruit of art that showcased their exceptional musical abilities. The album is a captivating blend of technical and progressive death metal, with a mix of brutal, melodic, old-school death metal and hints of dark, groove, and thrash; it simultaneously also showcases an array of musical elements and intricate structures that incorporate multiple tempos, moods, and soundscapes.
After listening to Angel Rising’s work for a while now, my question? What will the new single and a new album on the rising, will bring and sound like? Something previous or something new, fresh and exhilarating, just like Everything That We Build.
The Fifth Sin, The Memorabilia
I eagerly anticipate the release of the new album. Considering that this new song, Everything That We Build, is a fruit of art, uplifted my emotions and brought a beaming expression to my face as I swayed to the beat and rhythm of the song.
The Sixth Sin, The Artwork
I am awed by the artwork and the oil-painting effect. When artists use this effect on their artwork/album cover, it makes the music more alive and draws you in more to the bands’ musical work.
The Seventh Sin, Disrelish
Nothing to disrelish within the musical spectrum of Angel Rising and his single, Everything That We Build. Therefore, this concludes Angel Rising and his single, Everything That We Build review.
