Formed in Hull, England, in 2023, Impurist is a band whose members’ diverse experiences and musical backgrounds have shaped it. Featuring former and current members of Extreme Noise Terror, Gorerotted, Winterfylleth, Hellbastard, and Introrectalgestation, Impurist’s music is a unique blend of their collective influences and individual artistic visions

The opening piece, Punishment Without Mercy, greets the listener with an unrelenting barrage of instrumental and vocal power from the moment the listener presses the play. It’s a sonic assault that immediately grabs your attention and sets the tone for the rest of the album.

Embarking on a musical journey with the second piece, In Gristle and Sinew, and the last two pieces, you’ll witness Impurist‘s unique blend of harrowing, bleak ‘death’ subject and musical influences from their formative years. This distinct fusion of themes and sounds, which draws from a wide range of musical genres and styles, is a captivating invitation for new listeners to explore the depth and complexity of Impurist music.

Impurist‘s music not only pushes the boundaries of brutal death metal, offering a relentless, weighty, and fierce style but also showcases the band’s impressive technical prowess. They deftly blend heavy riffs reminiscent of old-school death metal rhythms with dark, haunting melodies. For me, with a runtime of sixteen minutes and four songs, as soon as the runtime executes your brain cells and breaks your spinal cord in half, this is something to repeat and crave more.
