Immediately, the listener presses that play button, welcomed by a hard-hitting instrumental and vocal introduction that grabs their attention with its raw production, the heavy and ruthless instrumental and vocal intro of the opening piece, The Burden Within.

As the listener progresses with the second song, First-Degree Suicide, the five pieces have a distinct old-school thrash/punk metal feel.

Locked Inside Yourself is a technical thrash metal with a unique style. The music blends genres from the rock/metal, punk universe, and other influences with raw and low-budget production in sound and songwriting. It’s almost as if the music were recorded and written in modern times, it’s almost as if the music were recorded in a different era and discovered in an abandoned house. This is because the recording and songwriting were done in a home studio, which adds to the music’s authenticity and unique vibe. The raw and unpolished sound of the album is a testament to its old-school/traditional metal roots.

At the same time, Locked Inside Yourself is full-on energy, resulting in an intense listening experience. The music is characterised by its high-energy levels, adrenaline-fuelled riffs, headbanging moments, and fist-pumping anthems that satisfy any extreme metal/metal fan.

The band’s performances and devilmanship of instrumental and vocal fruit of art showcase the artists’ artistry with varying tones, moods, and tempos that keep the listeners engaged. The guitar work is exceptional, comprising raw, barb-wire riffage with exciting variations and changes of rhythm, as well as short and sharp fret-board solos that keep the energy levels high.

The drums are thunderous and brutal, with striking and filling beats that create a powerful and intense atmosphere. The vocals are raw and unpolished, adding a layer of authenticity and rawness to the overall piece. Track four features Kalaraphyll as a guest vocalist, whose unique style changes the mood and tone of the piece, adding depth and texture to the overall sound. Additionally, the raw rumble of the bass fills the void and complements the guitar work and drums perfectly. At the same time, track three features guest bassist Charles Berthoud, whose performance adds an exciting new layer to the piece.

The piece in question is an absolute work of art, showcasing the exceptional skills and talents of the artists who created it. Listening to The Healing Process clarifies it that this is thrash metal done right. But this depends on the listener’s preference; I like my music raw, unpolished, and homeschooled/old school, and at times, I do like my music well-polished. It depends on the style, and Locked Inside Yourself (for me) is done correctly.

The album comes to an end with the closing song When All Is Said and Done, which welcomes the listener with a beautiful and vibrant instrumental of a clean guitar passage that brings the album to a perfect closure.
